The NBG i-bank #fintech crowdhackathon took place with great success during the weekend of 23 and 24 April 2016. It is the first hackathon in Greece on the subject of #fintech economic activity, a topic which is globally attracting more and more interest. The NBG i-bank #fintech crowdhackathon was organized by Crowdpolicy (www.crowdpolicy.com) with the support of the National Bank of Greece (www.nbg.gr) as a main donor, as well as other donors and supporters.

Over the course of NBG i-bank #fintech crowdhackathon competed a total of 16 teams addressing a variety of financial transactions subject matters, such as chatbots, e-wallets, malicious transactions identification, contracts based on blockchain technology, crowdfunding operations, mobile phone transactions with QR codes, social banking, support of communities with special needs and so on.

Alongside the NBG i-bank #fintech crowdhackathon the Be Finnovative! Workshop was also organised, including presentations related to financial transactions.

The winners of the competition are the following:

First (1st) place was won by BankBot, from the Bankship group, an intelligent application for automated customer services through Facebook’s Messenger. The prize is 1.500 euros in cash from the National Bank of Greece (NBG), a contract for services to be delivered to NBG worth 10.000 euros, consulting services from PLANET valued at 2.500 euros and a scholarship from IST College.

Second (2nd) place was won by the RSK-Mind, from the RSK Project Team. It is a malicious transaction tracking service using artificial intelligence management of big data and machine learning. The prize is 1.000 euros in cash from NBG, a contract for services to be delivered to NBG worth 5.000 euros and advisory services from PLANET valued at 2.500 euros.

Third (3rd) position was shared by the team Elorus with the application SynenosiS and the team Code Burrows with the application Smart Pay. The application allows money transfers and purchases by scanning a QR Code using a mobile phone, with the funds transferred from one account to the other automatically in the background. Prizes are 500 euros in cash from NBG, a contract with the NBG worth 5.000 euros and advisory services from PLANET valued at 2.500 euros.
