PLANET to support ERGOSE in preparing the necessary documentation to apply for EU funding for a series of railway infrastructure projects

PLANET, leading the consortium of AVARIS and EUROTEC, was assigned through the National Operational Programme for Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development 2014-2020 to prepare specialized studies for a series of railway infrastructure projects for ERGOSE, subsidiary company of Greek Railways (OSE) in order to apply for EU funding.

Specifically, the assignment foresees the preparation of transport demand study for the whole rail network of the country, financial and socioeconomic cost benefit analyses and feasibility studies for a series of railway infrastructure projects under development by EGROSE. The aforementioned projects include a) Completion of upgrading and electrification works in section Polikastro – Idomeni of the railway axis Thessaloniki – Idomeni (Part of Core TNT-T Network)” b) modernization of existing signaling system with telecommanding, installation of ETCS1, supply and installation of radio coverage system and portable GSM-R equipment in specified parts of the Patras-Athens-Thessaloniki-North Boarders railway axis c) Remaining works of infrastructure, superstructure, electrification and upgrade of central Athens Railway Station – Phase B d) Local improvements on the railway axis of Patras-Athens-Thessaloniki-Idomeni/Promachonas.

In addition, PLANET will support the Contracting Authority (Managing Authority of OP “Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development”) and the Beneficiary (ERGOSE) in applying for EU funding, either under the relative National Operational Programme or under CEF-Transport (Connecting Europe Facility for Transport), dedicated in supporting investments in building new transport infrastructure in Europe or rehabilitating and upgrading the existing ones.
